HI! I’m Sury! Welcome to my world!

My art is primarily described as “photographic” since my paintings are loosely based on realism and capture scenes of humanity primarily the joy and connection of being human. I love being inspired by nature – majestic animals, lush greenery, and deep earth tones speak to me. My Hassidic background is emergent and often a rich component that influences themes in some of my pieces. I am influenced by Judaism as a whole and it’s kaleidoscope of Jews from all walks of life. The dominant features of my pieces are texture, visual effect, and light. Working on canvas, clay board, or wood, I apply acrylic paint transforming the surface into a vision with feeling and soul. Emotion is a huge part of my process and very much visible in the end result.
